I should have known you'd know the answer to this one. Thanks Karl.
This Meebo thing is already on my nerves.

You can completely turn off chat completely in your Privacy section (Account)
http://www.chess.com/home/privacy.html
Where it says "Chat Bar", use the drop down box and mark as "Never Show" then save settings at the bottom of the page

As of yesterday every time I attempt to select "Unavailable" It tell me "offline" 'login'.
Don't do nothing and I'm available. My issue is that this opens my curtains on a landscape not of my choosing.
Imagine a single hose into the engine room bifer/difer and however fircated. For a what? Why would I want to chat with other than my opponent??
Seriously, why need either of us expose ourselves without opting in?
IS meepo eradication a benefit of paid membership? Ads I can deal with but not a portal that I can't control. I'd planned to join when next Veterans got a raise but I'd rather struggle snail mail.
Give me privacy or. . . err how much to be meepo free??

Hat in hand I need admit my haste. Had I read the last few posts rather than attacking directly our host? I need to practice Transcental Hesitation again. Ya know, "Just say Whoa!!".
humbly

Unfortunately as meebo is a 3rd party service any member wanting to use the chat bar will see the ads. We are sorry about this but we cannot remove them, they are a part of the meebo service.
The only way to remove the ads you see on the chat bar, is to completely turn off the chat bar itself and not use it.

Why is it that every time I click to go to Chess.com...the chat app is already open again even when I closed it last time? Why doesn't it stay offline until I ask it to go online again? It's really annoying.
