Trolls deserve some money from chess.com

Trolls are the reason some people spend more time on this site.  Without us, some people would just play some boring-ass chess games and log off.  With us, you refresh your chess.com page every 10 secs to see the dopamine hit that you need and want.  Even the trolls you don’t like, you still refresh the page to put in the last word, so you could feel like you beat the troll somehow or show your superiority by a smart comeback if you will in the reply.  Basically it’s to say, trolls keep some people stay longer on chess.com.

Yet, you are still here 😜.

chaotikitat

I’m here because I payed for the year membership

I’m on your threads because I (in vain) attempt to help people who troll because in reality they dont have any interaction and any is better than none they say which I disagree with

This troll understands his work! Truly the best we’ve had in a while! He even knows about refreshing the page!

community guidelines says not to troll. so enjoy your free report.

Duck

A troll makes a post about trolls and says that trolls must be paid

OMGBLUECHEESE

AhSheet, I completely disagree with your nonsense about trolls getting paid.

Trolls belong under bridges with goats over them. If u wanna troll, there are sites specifically designed for your . . .um . . .proclivities!😝

if trolls deserve money from chess.com, actual chess players on this site definitely do...

HippotoBaron6

Trolls are a waste of carbon -> 🗑️

Again, as intelligent people, why are we even wasting our words discussing trolls - we’re just giving them what they want. My final thoughts on this subject - say No! to trolls!👊

FoxWithNekoEars

I mean if those people are funny via some original way then its fine... but if it's only about endless argues with somebody then its bad..

Argonautidae

Those demands have already been accepted, now we're aiming for a raise.

Without trolls, what would forums be like? Boring.

"community guidelines," lol.  About 90% (probably a conservative estimate) of all forum posts are from people who are bored/looking for attention/just simply trolling...

Not exactly something to be proud of.

Environmental factors that contribute to trolling:

  • The online disinhibition effect: This phenomenon describes an illusion of invincibility and invisibility. A person is more likely to troll from behind a screen than face-to-face due to a false sense of security. Metaphorically, the online environment can produce a sort of mental veil that seems to open a release valve into some of the darker corners of human nature—not unlike the “liquid courage” and disinhibition that alcohol can provide. Unsurprisingly, combining the online disinhibition effect with alcohol use can be a recipe for disaster.
  • Anonymity: If a person engages anonymously online, then it’s like the online disinhibition effect has just taken steroids. It is easier to troll with the illusion of no accountability and no connection to one’s life off-line.
  • Tribalism: The power of the group can add more fuel to the fire. Like a pack of wolves, humans are social creatures and have an innate desire to be part of a group. When many members of a group are trolling a target, a sense of belonging can be achieved by conforming to the group’s behavior.

We gonna need proper sources, sir.  Just because you wrote an essay doesn't mean it's any good. It's gonna get a big F in an academic setting for not having any proper sources.

10% should be the baseline/minimum level of compensation during negotiations, I agree.

Troll lives matter.  You trollcist, please get out of my thread.  I am sick of seeing you.
