Friending is a minefield.
This may help...
Don't worry about accepting friends' requests because it's very informal on this site & doesn't commit you to anything.
friending makes it easier for you to follow each other as you progress, if you plan on playing/talking with him more in the future then it makes sense. if you dont plan on it then there is no reason to friend him. overall I accept requests since every time I dont, then later I have reason to find the person again and it is nearly impossible. At least if I friend them I can easily find their profile
First, I'm sure there must be an FAQ page somewhere on chess.com, and I'm almost sure I saw it once, but I have no idea where. Can anyone point me to it?
Second, I got a friend request from a brand new member whose question I answered. Of course, I'm not anti-social or anti-friend in the least, but I'm curious as to what it means to friend someone on this site. Remember, I'm an old guy, not on Facebook or any other social media site, so it's not natural for me to accept a friend request unless I understand it fully.
