This is about bots rated 1200-1400, i.e. the ones I'm familiar with: they often play a sort of bad move that is unrealistic, that is human players of their calibre (e.g. me and humans I've played). The bad move I'm referring to is a pointless move, usually a piece on the back rank. For example Ra8b8 when I'm not threatening anything back there neither does putting that rook on b2 do anything toward opening a file for it. Advice to the chess.com programmers: a much more realistic bad move (again, for players between 1200-1400), and which you do *not* generate enough of, is a pointless and hopeless attack of some sort.

What you describe becomes even more obvious for higher level bots. A chess player who is high rated themselves probably understands the game of chess more and with more knowledge comes more insight on when certain moves feel inconsistent and computer-ish. In fact, this is one reason many top players hate bots; I would rather train against human players as well.
