I'm a member and a TD. Though I hardly play any more myself.

do u go to chess clubs

DrSpudnik

I run the events at my club, which meets in a bar & grill on Tuesday nights. It's hard pairing the 4th round without a computer in a 12 player Swiss when you've had a pitcher of beer. Laughing

You'd probably want to post this on USCHESS.ORG instead of on a chess.com forum thread.

I became a USCF Member way back. I think at the time [memory fails] you could become a life member by paying extra for a period of time and think I did this.

Think my last rating was 2188 after playing in the US Open in Chicago 1973.

After that there were two USCF rated tournaments in my home town of Kankakee Illinois.  These Tournaments were "tornados"  4 games in one day.  I won both tournaments with a score of 4 wins and no losses and no draws. After that 8 game winning streak - I never played another USCF over the board tournament again. But I never made USCF master  CryFrown

I'm with the USCF, my rating is 1623. I had a 5 round swiss tourney yesterday, tied for first for the U1700 prize, beat a 1900, and defeated one of my friends in one of the games.

Aye. I'm a member.

Yes it helps, but I think it's good to do some of your training with a real set, that way you are used to it when you play OTB.
