Vote Chess Standings

I know there was a post regarding possibly rating or ranking teams another way, but can somebody please explain to me exactly how the points are allocated under the present system?

Teams with the same record have different points, totally different records have the same points.

eg:     International Chess team 2 games 100% 5 points

          Team Ireland                 2 games  50%  5 points

Some teams seem to get points for losses, others don't?

I am guessing that it depends on the opponent. Losing to a GM is different to losing to an amateur. Just like if a group is very large and has high rated players. For example, team Ireland's win may have been against a very strong group, like Team Australia, while ICC's win may have been against a group of 30 members and no players over 1900. Just a theory.

I dont think so, this was the point of this topic:

But now I cant find any way to correlate a teams Vote Chess score with actual events, ( played, won, lost, drawn)

I believe that International Chess Team won one of their games on time before 3-4 moves were up which therefore (and is also the same with correspondence ratings) it doesn't count in the points.

Kacparov

it depends on the opponents and how many members joined the game
