Hi

I though, hey I like chess.com, why not give something back. So I signed up for the welcome to chess.com games.

Are they ever used by the new accounts? I mean are they at all a real value to the site. Or just something that almost never is beeing used. I think that Im up 10 games in a row that just timed-out. Doesnt matter to me, but I mean its your feature, not mine :)

So what does the founders of the system think ? I mean I don't have a problem with having one game active that is gonna be won on time every third day. I feel its a waste of energy actually. Why have a function that certainly to a degree slowes down the server and raises cost on trafic and so on.

My own experience is this. I played my "welcome" game. And was stoked about my first match going for a win. Then I realised that it was unrated. I mean you don't really care so much about those games if they arnt played with good friends?

So step up chess.com and tell us your story.

it's helpful to some people. maybe 1 in 10 will stick with it, but it matters to that person :)

:P

Or is the problem perhaps bigger. That ppl create accounts that they don't even use. I don't understand why you would do that? Do you have ad's out that give companys money if ppl sign up?

Im just confuzed why all that I have "met" don't use their accounts.

To put it like this, and this is purly hypothetical because I don't know what marketing chess.com uses.

If you pay a 3.rd party to attract costumers for chess.com they in their case will give the costumer a token of appriciation. What that is I don't know, perhaps some token for a booring facebook farmville game, where you can buy a new plow with the tokens you receive thru signing up at chess.com. The 3.rd party gets a small sum for attracting nonsens costumers who don't really use this device and in a way makes the "welcome to chess.com" a bit, say, uneccesary.

Yes I have a tinfoil hat :P. But I can't understand why ppl make "unused" accounts at chess.com

I played a greeter game as my first game here. I played it out and got crushed by a very strong player. I tried to ask a question though and he was silent.Frown
