What does it mean when a game is aborted ?

Hello ! First of all, I am (as you might suspect) Damien Calloway. I am only now at age 29 beginning to take chess seriously. I am in a chess club and signing up for chess sites to improve.

Now, a match I had (and looked forward to) was actually aborted. What does that mean ? I thought I had enough time, for instance. And I cannot find the game in my history....

Oh, and one other quick question : how can I choose which colour I want to play when seeking/challenging ? Thanks !

Games can be aborted by either side if no move has been made, I believe.

I see - k. Now it makes sense. Is choosing clour possible when seeking ? Say, if I wanted White pieces to work on my white opening, and Black pieces to work on my black opening... is that possible ?

Well if you use the seeking to join other peoples games, there should be column telling you if you will play "white" "black" or "random".  If you create your own game you can also specify.

When I try to create a game, I only get a random choice (Online Chess). I happened to get the colour I wanted but still... is there another setting I need to check ?

Sorry, can you explain 'aborted matches' more clearly to me because it just happened to me and I still don't know what it means.
