Can someone please tell me what this Opening Explorer is for and how to use it?

It's a guide to openings that folks use to research opening lines and learn how popular they are.  I happened to have e4 copy/pasted for another post.  You can see the winning chances for white and black, along with how popular the move is.

So now if I move c5 for black, we'll see white's most popular responses.  And so on...I cut the responses a little short, there are another 10 or so.

Im new here so how would i learn chess without playing games alot

The games shown are for GMs. After you start playing games, you can actually look at your games to look for patterns. One problem, as an unpaying member, you can only go 4 moves into an opening.

While you can see percentages etc. it is more important to understand the reason for the moves. You can get this from good openings books. The Opening Explorer gives very basic Pros/Cons for each opening/defence.

It may not be for folks who aren't titled players.  You have me curious now so I'm gonna check an amateur database elsewhere...

A little different; c5 is still most popular, but e5 scores slightly better.  I've had trouble copy/pasting from this site before, so this might not work...
