Hi, I am setting my self a task of seeing how many online chess rating points I can climb in 365 days. To get a comparison does any one know the average chess.com rating for a 13 year old and is there any way of knowing, thanks!

Everyone knows that the average chess skills for a 13 year old is about 2500 gm.

Better to concentrate on enjoying it if it is a hobby you can embrace.  Skill or lack of it is almost irrelevant compared to fun.  If you dont enjoy it primarily take up something else.

13 year olds these days are up in the 2400+ rating range

Chess rating goes up by 100 per year of life, peaking for most

people as an IM at 2500.

Edit: in terms of online, well judge compared to this though this has some merit. Just add 150 points or so due to chess.com inflation. So something between 1400-1750 like many other people here.

The issue with judging average ratings of younnger players is that many people of that age show up to one scholastic tournament so the rating has sme people in the 800 range and others in the 2000 range.

In terms of everyone, probably around a 1100-1300 due to said scholastics. In terms of competitive players only, probably around 1200 (for lower rated strong players)-1500+ (for higher rated strong players and beyond), as people at that age generally only stick with the game if they feel that they can win, lolpsychology.

would be better if there is a filter for age and take a random sample among them with different countries and then you find out the estimate
