I would definitely start with the gold. The platinum game review will tell you where you basically go wrong. The diamond coach explanations will essentially annotate your games or pgn for you. Just think. There's a world championship going on right now. You could input the pgn in diamond and follow along with annotations. So it depends on your level of fanaticism. The only reason I don't have diamond is because I don't have the time to study and follow chess that closely. I suggest you get the gold for the time being. Do as many puzzles as you can and watch the lessons. Trust me. It's a good value.

They value plan doesnt really exist right now/ the cheapest plan they have is 50$Us per year, which is too high. I remember when I used to have the basic plan, which was 30 USD per year, which was reasonable. Ever since the sponserships/ and prize pool, tournaments started, the rates went up. It pushed me and alot of other low income players away from the memberships. Chess.com thinks they live a vacum, and that players (in the US) dont have a alot of other fees to pay (state membership, USCF yearly dues/ magazine sub. and getting some books every year) it all adds up to alot of money.
