What the newbees should know about Chess.com.

It was a suggestion, not a demand, and while I agree that it would be a good idea I don't think I'm the one that made it.  The already low signal to noise ratio in these forums has dropped considerably since your arrival.

kohai

Well, for a thread titled 'what the newbees should know about chess.com' people are certainly showing that Frown

I have the right to block up to 200 people, you have the right to block up to 200 people.  I have the right to post, you have the right to post.  There is no rule in chess.com which says that rights vary depending on how long you've been on this site.

I don't know that I've ever seen anyone claim that there was.

But you people were definitely acting like it, because you were telling me to stop making threads, as if you people were my bosses.

Yah, it's almost like we were saying you can't vote for such-and-such a move/player.  What self-involved, bossy people we are.

checkmateibeatu

The newbies should know that most people on this site are good people.

Denali, Whitney, K2, Kilimanjaro.

And the first, of course, is Fuji.

Man, Canucks sure do know their hills.

I don't care about this, and am not participating in it.

Again with the misquoting, only from a different person:

Terms Of Service: http://www.chess.com/legal.html#termsofservice

5. forge headers or otherwise manipulate identifiers in order to disguise the origin of any Content transmitted through the Service;

lol, you couldn't possibly be dense enough to think that applies here, could you?

If I didn't want to do that mountain thing, I had the right not to do that!  I am sick and tired of you people acting like you own this place and that you can do whatever you want but I can't block you.

theoreticalboy

Dude, when did we ever say you couldn't block us?  You can do what you feel like; again, we have every right to criticise these decisions you make.  Please, explain why this isn't the case.

checkmateibeatu

And it DOES apply here!  Misquoting is not allowed in the forums, period!  What do you mean by "here"?  Do you mean when it is done to me?  Do you mean when it is done to a newbie?  Do you mean when it is done by an oldie?

kohai

The thread hijacking needs to stop, its ruining alot of good threads.

Kohai... can say that again !

If you are new comer to chess.com I think you are in a great place. If there is a problem just take it through the appropriate channels to resolve.  In all my messages I have had someone respond and offer help to me.

This is a business so remember;

1-Chess.com cant fix a problem they dont know about
2-The decisions they make are under operating guidelines and restrictions that are made for the entire group not just me. Well I do like it when things are just for me ..me ..me..me... Cool  ha ha ha....  I digress......
3-The more seasoned players here are a lot of fun. Yes , Yes they  tend to tease, but they are really nice people. There are a few that will block you, but the rest are even tempered for the most part.
4-There is nothing that says you must post in the forums, have to read the forums, have to agree in the forums, or anything else on those lines
5-If you block someone it means they are blocked from your personal site and from posting in your forum threads. That does not mean they are blocked from other threads or that they cant start their own forum thread if desired.
6-Join a group and get active with them . You will feel included more. My 2 bits !
