What will someone see when you decline friend request/unfriend him/her?

I read that in the past when you decline someone's request, you have to provide some explanation. That would be a chore if not a pain. Now it looks like you can just click "Decline" without explanation. I'm curious what the other person will see though. Would it be "your friend request has been declined by xyz"? That would kind of hurt someone's feeling a little bit wouldn't it? 

And what about you're already "friend" with someone for years, and yet you never exchanged a word or played a game with that person since that day when you played two games and got friended by him. What will he see if you now unfriend him? Will he see a message saying "xyz has decided you're no longer his friend"? Or will your avatar just silently disappear from his list of 100 or so friend avatars?

I got the answer to one of my question thanks to JSLigon's help. When you unfriend someone, your avatar will just silently disappear from their's friend list. No message whatsoever. It will be mostly unnoticeable unless someone keeps watching how many friends they have.

I still don't know about the decline (JSLigon: my 2nd friend request to you is still standing, waiting to be declined) although I suspect it'll be silent as well.

I think I know why. The first time I did it, the system prompted me for a message. That's why you got a message. The second time I clicked on "Send Friend Request", it was just sent, I wasn't prompted for anything. I guess that's why the friend request just showed up for you without an accompanying message.

On my end, after I sent it then it showed up in the "From Me" list of friend request. After you declined, it just disappeared. No msg whatsoerver.

Disappearing your friend's avatar from your friend list does not necessarily mean that you were unfriended by your friend. It is most likely that your disappeared friend's chess.com account has been closed for some reason.
