whats the story about the Bongcloud?

I searched a bit but cant find anymore than that it was user Lenny Bongcloud who played Ke2. And that it was his goal to reach the other side of the board with his king?

Check this site. There is a nice link there.

Thanks! But hmm.. while typing this I checked the link and it appears the website is down. What I dont understand about the bongcloud: do both players try to reach the other side while preventing the mate? And: did Lenny Bongcloud came up with this game, or did others make it up when they read about his Ke2 move?

(offtopic: today I finally broke through 1200 in 10min games! and.. Ive sent an email to the programmer to get the EC update started!)

Yeah, there is a whole world of threads that awaits you.  Search for "Bongcloud" and be amazed at the passion that this chess derivative engenders (even I don't know what that means and I wrote it); happy reading.

Thank you. The user Lenny_Bongcloud wasn't the first who played 2.Ke2. There is a VERY SERIOUS INVESTIGATION on TRUE OLD HISTORY of BC (Bongcloud attack/ Bongcloud opening), on its trap after 1.f4 Na6 2.Kf2 by Yury V. Bukayev on Rick Kennedy's blog (USA):  https://jeromegambit.blogspot.com/2021/04/gm1-vs-you-wing-gambit-bombs-bc-history.html .

Its title is 'GM#1 vs You: Wing Gambit Bombs, BC & History: 1' .
