Why am I getting a ton of friend requests?

All of a sudden I get a game request from a stranger, then if I accept, they want to friend me. Once friends, the don't respond to any chats. Years on the site and it's never been like this. I'm guessing it's a prelude to spam. Is it happening to you too?

maybe they just think you have a friendly eye but then realise you have only one? jk xD to be honest they are probably just friend collectors because with a lot of friends they feel idk more popular or so....I basically only accept friend requests because why not and it feels nicer than saying no I think :).....I do not often send friend requests myself

wanna be friends eyeronic? 😂

Sure; why not? I guess I never used to get friend requests without interaction of some kind first. Just worried about some sort of spam or smurfing or something. Anyway. I'm looking forward to years of friendship, Icy.

Or they like your cool avatar, to add to their "stamp collection".

Hey @eyeronic we just played each other in a daily tournament!

eyeronic

Yeah, @ricorat, I remember and now we're friends! Thanks, @GBTGBA. That's a thought, @Iron-Toad. Hey, @icyboyyy, why do you think @Dark_Chess_Pro dug up this old thread?

When I begin a game, I offer simple pleasantries, a simple hello and my name, where I’m from and most people can’t even reciprocate. It’s just basic manners, chess teaches us etiquette, does it not?

Over the board, sure, but I never do that online, I play too many games to bother... if I'm doing bullet I'm not going to be doing that at the start of the game.
