Why are chess.com servers so abysmal?

@boardmonkey i renewed two memberships some days ago for me and my girlfriend +200 bucks for a year. I was really thinking about it but server issues got better. there's too much traffic which brings them more money but they only apologize never offer something that hurts them really like a free week or two for every member

@boardmonkey
it's only chess in the end. it makes me more angry that they make more money bc of the traffic which is the reason for the server issues and only offer a very cheap apology.

502 it happens a lot. But why? Are they too greedy to invest in decent servers? Especially if you are a paying member it feels unfair when they dont add queues for starting a game and accept bazillions of new subscriptions when the server obviously cant handle it.
What's also funny is that i've never seen a by chess.com supported streamer kicked out of a game because of server issues
In my opinion chess.com as a big company has only one major service to provide and that is that the server runs. they horribly fail at their one job
The site is actively working on optimizations and capacity increases to alleviate issues. However, it isn't as simple as adding capacity. There are changes that need to be made to code and databases to take advantage of new servers.
They are working on that and it's my understanding it's the priority.
