Why did live game abort in 10 seconds?

Hello,

I'm new to Chess.com and was playing a live game.  At second move, I was thinking, and the game was aborted after 10 seconds.  I didn't wait longer than one minute.  Is that allowed...thinking?  I would think so.  In any case, 10 seconds is an awful short amount of time.  Was player impatient?

Wait was the clock already running?

If it was not and was just you deciding how to respond to his first move then he probably just gome impatient. When i play live chess i wait for about 30-40 seconds before i abort. I don't mind once the clock has started but it's rather annoying when it has not/

impatience for sure. most people expect you already know your first move...

I've often speculated why people abort their games within the first moves of a game, and then...

... I also had to go to the bathroom one day!

The reasons are many, why I've had people abort games because they apparently didn't like playing the Ruy Lopez. Don't worry about it, that'd be my suggestion. :)

I don't know if the clock was running...I was looking at the board.

Thanks for your comments.

One last question...how much time is allowed during a live chess game that does not take hours per move?
