Why do 2400+ players join so many groups?

Yes, sometimes I wonder. They hardly seem to play for a group!

So why do they join so many of them? Could it be that the real purpose is not to be part of a group or help their group to win matches but to show off their ranking to maximum audience in a very convenient and subtle manner?

Do they really join more groups than lower rated players? I doubt it.

But if they do, I think it's because they get more invitations.

I joined too many groups because I have a hard time saying no when someone invites me nicely to join. However , I have quit many of them now and intend to trim a few more off. I also have learned to say thanks, but no.

Some titled players don't play any games at all here. They are just members...

The groups I enjoy the most, are the ones where the strong players contribute, esp in vote chess. It is very insightful to see and follow their thought process through a whole game.

But sadly, there are only a few groups like that...

and aswell...the more groups their in, the more team macthes they can join if they wish

It also works the opposite way: the more groups a person is in, the fewer Team Matches they can join. (They can't join any Team Matches between groups they belong to.)
