Will I be suspected for cheating for this reason?

as you could tell by my profile, I just recently got into chess and learned the whole hans niemann cheating stuff, but I was especially focused on one point. the main evidence of him cheating was that whenever he would switch tabs, his performance would get much better. which worries me considering I always switch back and forth between chess.com and sites (mostly discord and youtube) while playing 15 | 10 games.

now obviously Im nowhere near hans in any shape or form, but that did worry me, if I suddenly have a great game and get reported, will I be suspected even more because of me switching tabs? I especially became worried today cus I had my first brilliant move, and Im in dire need of an answer.

You shouldn't be switching out of the game really but if your playing fairly you don't have anything to worry about

well that's nice to know. as for the reason I keep switching, I honestly don't have the patience to wait for my opponents in a 15 | 10 happy.png

Remember that platforms like Chess.com use many factors to detect cheating, not just tab switching. If you're playing fairly, you have nothing to worry about. Focus on enjoying your games, learning from your mistakes and improving over time.

If you're not going to make use of your opponent's time to study the position (which anyone would do if trying to optimize performance and improve), then why play 15 | 10 at all?

Kaiserreich911

idk it's just that I'm impatient really that's all. the main reason I play 15 | 10 is in case my internet suddenly disconnects for a minute or two or if I receive a call. yeah internet is a big issue as a syrian

basketstorm

they certainly track browser activity

if after switching to youtube and back your moves would be always more accurate than usual then I think some suspicions would be triggered

otherwise do not worry

tbh I wouldnt call switching between chess.com and youtube even cheating, like what you forgot a line of your opening so you just decide to quickly look up the video again? idk might be wrong

basketstorm

that would be cheating according to the rules. when you're playing online, imagine yourself in a real over-the-board game. would you like your opponent to take out a smartphone and start watching video about the opening you are playing?
