I was wondering if anyone was working on a Windows Phone 7 app to go along with the other chess apps for this site. I know it only JUST got released, but I'm really looking forward to being able to play live chess whenever and wherever I am. :)

erik

yep! in the works. but likely live chess is a ways out...

you can support the development by becoming a premium member ;)

Any news about this? I'll renew my premium membership if WP7 is supported ;)

Hi all,

I'm a WP7 dev that offered up support in this via the contact us section of the site. I hadn't realized anything was in the works.

Anything I can do to help out? I'm already familliar with your API and I have PHP code to handle notifications from another notification server I run that I would be happy to hand over.

Thanks,

B.

Looking forward to a Windows phone 7 version of chess.com

Apps look amazing on WP7 and a chess.com app I am sure would be beautiful

Any word on the progress of this app?

I may have missed something, but that group looks dedicated to old versions of Windows Mobile. Sadly, there is no cross platform compatibility to WP7 for technical reasons.

Seems to be working in the browser except for a few alignment glitches, but nowbody is working on fixing these issues either?

I'm hoping a windows phone 7 app is released sometime soon...

Any idea when the phone 7 app will be released ?

I payed and got premium member to support chess.com and (as an important part) to support the development of a WP7App for chess.com

ICS already has one - come on guys, it's a pity :(

any news?

No sign of a chess.com app yet. I'm playing on Chess By Post until it comes out. It's all right (and free!) but I'd rather use an app associated with this site and its user community.

I found it rather frustrating that no staff member is responding with a plan for Windows Phone 7 development (or answer that there will be no WP7 app). WP7 is definitely different from Windows Mobile. WP7 is still quite small, but there are still many polls and signals that WP7 will get a big market share.

I have several colleagues that are quite happy with playing Chess by Post on their WP7, but I rather also connect with them, using a chess.com app.

Would be nice to see something happen, but there seems to be no response from chess.com so I guess it's a lost cause.

Too bad, too. From what I understand, Microsoft's Silverlight/XNA platform is pretty easy to code for, and with so few chess games available in the marketplace chess.com would get plenty of exposure for ad revenue. I seem to remember reading an article saying that developers for Windows Phone get way more ad revenue from it than Android or iPhone even though there are fewer users because of the extra exposure apps get in a less crowded market.
