Next time don't post questions about pending games.
When you do post questions an interactive diagram with the coordinates is very helpful and will elicit more analytical responses IMHO

I'm assuming you're referring to your ongoing game against chroot ?
Even though you're asking for very general advice, you really shouldn't be asking for any kind of help in a current game - it's just bad form !

I disagree. Many players learn "on the go" instead of studying before playing. It is a game, after all.
It seems like memorizing checkmate patterns without playing is a dull way to get started in the game. Just jump right in ... no one gets punished for losing.
If you r referring to your game against chroot, you did not mention chroot's queen. LOL. Makes a difference.
If your question is regarding your game against chroot, you are not allowed to ask for advice.
My one pawn is blocked so I was wondering if it's possible to checkmate with a bishop and a rook; those are my only major pieces left. I'm wondering if I should just resign...
