Passed pawn?

/ What is a past pawn?

DiegoP1

A past pawn is a pawn that can't be stopped by a enemy pawn.

No, a passed pawn is a pawn that can't be stopped by an enemy pawn.

I was wondering what a "past pawn" might be- you know, like the ghost of Christmas past.

Perhaps English is not the first language of the original poster; my personal guess is that they know English well and the computer/mobile spell check "fixes" the wording incorrectly.

However, a "past pawn" sounds like the pawn that promotes. When your pawn reaches the backrank of the opponent, you promote into another piece (usually a Queen); but what happens to the promoted pawn? ... It becomes a ... (Dramatic music begins to play) "past pawn." happy.png

Yes, passed and past are both "pasado" in Spanish, makes sense.

A past pawn is a pawn that can't be stopped by enemy and I know I have A misspelling I misspelled

It's called A passed Pawn

A past Pawn is a Queen.

Used-to-be Pawn, became a Queen.

A passed Pawn, now... that's a Pawn that's clear to run in for a new Queen.
