Queen v protected passed pawn

White got a queen.

Now how does he stop black?

I think it involves controlling the queening square and getting the king close to the action, but aren't there two queening squares?

Thanks

It is almost always easy for a queen to stop a bunch of pawns except when some are on the 7th rank. Here 1. Qf3 is a most effective move. Black loses the pawn after 1. ... c2 2. Qe2+ and after any other move the queen can block all by playing Qd3. The power of the queen is not just to block but also to pick up lose pawns after a series of checks or to keep the king away from their defense. The queen is really worth it's 9 points in this type of endgame. Note that a rook would have a hard time stopping these pawns because his king is too far away.

Queen to f3 was where I was going also. Either separates king from pawns of separates the pawns
