Strong position?

Here's a game I lost on time just two or three moves later. I'm not sure if I had enough firepower to mount a successful attack, but I didn't find out because, after starting with Rxf7, DG came back with ... Rxf7 and I used my bishop too soon with Bxf7+. DG moved ... Kh8 and my clock ran down to 0.

Thoughts? Did I have the right idea? Full game here: http://www.chess.com/livechess/game.html?id=15035948

Yes, I completely agree with bondiggity's analysis. The final position is about level. Maybe ever so slightly better for white.

But if you were short on time you were always going to lose - there is no forced mate or anything. Your position is not *that* strong, just ok, as bondiggity demonstrates.

if you had that little time on the clock you couldn't win, you don't have any forced mate or anything of the sort, the best is what the above states, Rxf7... remember it is generaly better to strike first with the rook in situations like that (with an xray bishop behind it), it gives you a much more powerful discovered check, with windmill possabilities, than simply checking with the bishop.
