500 Elo after one month: how can I improve?

I played for the first time in December and lost…badly. Wanting to understand the rules I created a chess.com account and have loved it. The only issue is that I have nodes what I’m doing and have had to make it up myself with the help of the lessons on here.

I’d love to get to 800 Elo this year. Can someone help me improve?

Just focus on what your opponent is trying to do.

Purchase chess.com diamond membership and learn from it if you can afford

there's alot of free chess content on youtube... find a channel you like and listen to them talk chess would be my suggestion.
For beginners the main focus is always on not blundering. Take a look at the puzzles on this site for tactics practice, they're very good.

There are Youtube channels of some really good player-teachers that are skilled at teaching others chess. Sorry, if I skewer the names, but a few that I like are Anna Cromwell, Gothamchess, and Hikaru Nacaguru(?), and Igor Smirnov.

Also the puzzles and other learning tools here are great.

I also just discovered a site call DecodeChess, in which you can analyze your games and it explains why certain moves are best.

My Elo right now is 575. But I want to improve more this year as well. My goal this year is about 700-900. Can someone tell me how to improve more this year? TYSM!
