500 elo for a beginner It's not much or it's good

do a puzzle and before moving to the next one make sure you understand the current one
abuse the analysis feature after you try a tactic
use the lessons on chess.com
i am not sure how it works with platinum but just “click” the lessons tab and get started
play a few 15/10 or, better 30 min games, and try to use all of your clock but just getting started in the time controls is good enough
after each game replay it from the very beginning and recall what was happening as you made each move
if you can use the chess.com tools you make comments and annotations of your games and upload into the forums you will get better
avoid playing blitz and bullet and dont do 1000 tactics a day
there might be a way to go into “unrated” tactics and set up a group of puzzles in a rating range that goes over the specific tactical motifs but it might be better to watch a video that gives an overview (lessons might have this) of each of the motifs
the little videos attached to the lessons will help a lot too
good luck

Completely normal.
And most important? Probably just to get an overall idea of the game's rules, basic principles, basic mates, etc.
Any book about starting out in chess will give you that, and take you to around 1000 playing strength.

Wow, thank you very much for the answers and the time invested. I didn't expect so many answers, this says a lot about this community. Thank you also for the tips, I take it all into account.

Most people stay below 600 for a while till they start getting into puzzles and start playing more games.

@Problem5826 - What they said. My rating is pretty low but yes, I started out with the 15/10 min control which I found to be really fun, and then went into the 10/0 rapid daily tournaments (I play 3 minimum a day) but in-between I'm using the analysis tool to see what the engine says and see what it has to say. The lessons (or in general) recommended after each game are a great help too!
It is pretty normal for beginner. Maybe try some daily with stronger player so they can point out your mistakes and watch lessons on here, I think they are useful.
