Fair enough. What are your thoughts on playing the bots in general? I personally like to as I can spend as much time as I like on a move and they respond pretty quickly. Also, I'm in between things and need to quit the game, I'm not annoying anyone else or impacting my rating (which I realise as a novice is really not that important)
Or should I really focus on playing humans, to learn more?
I prefer human opponents, especially in rated to get a solid idea of your rating. Bots are a bit unreliable at playing regular chess and your general chess priorities are on how you face other people anyways. Still, facing a bot is better than facing no one I suppose. Making sure you spend enough time on your moves is an important priority for improving though, something you have to pay more attention to vs people at times than bots.
Best way to improve (for me) is to play more chess you will get better and realize mistakes the more games you play. Puzzles, videos, books, ect has also helped me out in getting better
