So I was asked to Draw but I could see I had a chance to Checkmate , I refused ( a rare chance for me to win ) so the other player did nothing except let the clock tick away , in the end I gave up - is this the right/wrong approach to the game ? Thank you

If a player lets the clock tick down needlessly, it is against chess.com policy. You can report them for it, and I have done that at least once before.

Just keep the tab open until their time runs out.

Why would you accept the draw? you were in the right in that situation

He probably didn't want to wait for so long.

DasBurner

yeah but i mean just keep the tab open and do something else if that happens

Resigning is definitely Harmon your winning chances.

The guy is probably toxic. He doesn't like that he is losing and wants to get a draw. He gets upset that he is going to lose and decides to run out his clock to be as annoying as possible.

REPORT HIM IMMEDIATELY. It should not be tolerated and they should get disciplined for it.

I have a different Idea of what happened, he/she had to go somewhere so he/she offered a draw and asked in the chat "Please accept the draw I have to go somewhere" and you didn't check the chat. That's what I think happened

after some amount of time of stalling, does not the game abort and the staller lose?

Thank you for the replies , unfortunately chat wasn’t open ,

It can be really annoying when you are in time trouble and his approach was to let the time pass for several minutes until he is about to get flagged, then he moves again, and you didn't have a checkmate to premove.

It happen to me once in a 15min game and I reported him/her.
