Attacking with your king

Do any of you have a good strategy for attacking with your king? I heard something like great leaders attack in front with there soilders and i feel bad leaving all my pawns to die. ive named them and grown attach so it only seems fair i throw my kings to the front of the battle. so to spare as many lifes as possible no? but im not very good at winning after that

I would suggest making sure that before you attack with your king. You are positive that you have more pieces than your opponent. Maybe like up by 6-8? Even so, you need to check if the centre/middle is being controlled by your opponent so that they can't checkmate.
