Beginners break through for 1400+ blitz

I finally got over 1100 in blitz after tilting down to 980s today and stringing some wins.

For those who got higher ratings, like +1400 in blitz what opening/s and ideas did you use to get better.

I play d4 as white and e5/d5 if opponent as white plays its. I grab the center with my pawns if opponent as white does fianchetto or other off beat opening. I don't know any theory stuff, like I can recognize what a Caro Kann, Sicilian etc looks like but don't know any theory. Thanks

I’m personally not a fan of Blitz, but I think just sticking with an opening that you’re comfortable playing in, like a normal Italian opening, is helpful! Practicing one opening a thousand times is far better than playing a thousand openings one time each.

Focus on not blundering. I'm referring to clear blunders like hanging a queen, etc. If you improve your play in regular chess, your blitz will likely get stronger as you more naturally make better moves.

I’m 1400 in blitz I’ve been playing for like 4-5 months progress gets really slow without a membership but whenever I play we go so fast we hang stuff in the opening so if you can perfectly theory the opening you should easily make it over 1400 another thing you should maybe try practicing in blitz are endgames since people play fast since they have like 30s left you wanna know what to do in endgames just realized that this post was asking for openings instead of advice alright so for my openings I love to play as white: Danish Gambit, Italian Game Evan’s Gambit, Ruy Lopez is a classic favorite for me Black: I used to play a lot of Sicilian but for now I’m playing King pawn response with the petrov defense shifting into the Stafford Gambit honestly if you want my advice on what openings to play I would go with how I taught myself in the opening by playing the Italian or when your ~500 play the exchange variation of ruy lopez My opening throughout 400-1100 was Italian then I played more gambits and gambits are like the most effective thing you can do to get through like 1000-1300

Totally agree, once you feel like you've found YOUR opening with both white and black, you should earn quite a few points. I've been using queen's gambit with white, and recently french with black after a long time using philidor (but never happy with it). Whenever I venture into unknown openings or gambits I end up losing miserably.
