Blitz timer


It actually makes a great deal of sense to have an increment, but I think you may be a little confused as to how it works. The timer still counts down while it's your turn; the increment just gives you a little extra time during the opening phase and allows an interesting end game to continue when low on time (living off the increment). It doesn't make any sense to me a 5minute game should be a 5minute game not 5minutes and however long it takes to checkmate 😄

I think the logic is that players need to move quickly in a fast time control, but hopefully they won't lose on time. If there is no time increment, then more players will lose on time.
