Can someone explain this puzzle for me?

That's not really a puzzle as one would usually see.

It's an endgame played by strong players and I guess you are supposed to come up with the same moves. Black is a knight up but the knight is attacked. Where to move it?  

You aren't supposed to find moves to win more material or checkmate. Just figure out the best plan for black to take advantage of her extra material.

No offense meant but I think that the analysis might be a little too difficult for a beginner.

Thank you for the help, I understand now that generally you are supposed to save your knight. The main move I didn't understand was why in the first move of the puzzle the knight didnt go to d3 to attack the rook, but I realise it is because you are supposed to attack the pawn (?)

Nd3 doesn't work because it's not an actual threat. He just moves the rook one square to e6 . Your knight also blocks the rook from being able to attack the enemy pawns. And finally, your pawn is under attack by his white king so you have to make an equal threat of capturing his pawn while moving the knight to safety at the same time.
