Chess: Easy to learn. Impossible to Master.

If you are attracted to conquer the difficult, to attempt the impossible, then chess is for you. If you quit when it gets hard to continue, try tic tac toe, or checkers. If you're still interested. Here is my advice. No one can teach you anything. If you want to learn a teacher can provide a path, open doors, provide information and resources.  Start here CLICK ME.

If you want more guidance after that contact me. Remember you have to do the work. I cannot put information into your brain. You have to study. If your wasting my time we're done.

Don’t bother trying checkers.  It is as difficult to win at as chess.  :-).

Yes that too.

I used to play backgammon and parchessi before this. Great games! Games of chance and skill.

5 years ago today I was 1400, I graduated that year and got a job and played lots of chess while in office, maybe you need a boring job to improve at chess I don't know give it a try.

Frank Marshall in his book told how he was caught at his desk job looking at his pocket set  while in the drawer. But you know, I'm a big believer in living life on your own terms. Do the job or follow the path that interests you and don't worry about the consequences...

A local GM, Keith Arkell tells an interesting story of how he started a job as a young man that he very quickly realised was boring and took a set and chess book to the countryside while pretending to "go to work" to his parents. We need to follow our hearts more. As a younger man I was a wage slave - not any more - and somehow I manage to get by.
