You may find the move before you're done setting up the pieces, but in my way you're not necessarily setting up the pieces to find the move, especially when you can do it blind if you want. You're setting up the pieces on order to meditate, relax, etc. If the position is trivial, then I just move on to something else, some path that could've been taken, or I contemplate my opponent's reply and look at what may lie ahead in the future. Still I sit at the board when I can.
I do for each game and every move. I have depth perception issues with my eyes looking at a flat screen so the best way for me is to set up an actual board and write the moves down as I analyze then come back to cpu and enter move.
