Disparity between playing black and white

I score about 5% better with White than with Black, but nearly all of my "big wins" have been with the Black pieces. In fact, it's hard to think of a really memorable game that I played with the White pieces.
When deciding what (and how) to play as Black, your first decision should be: Am I going to first try to equalize, and only THEN play for a win?... or am I going to try to unbalance the game and play for a win right from move one?
This decision should influence your choice of opening. People playing for a win with Black right from move one will usually play something unbalancing like the Sicilian, rather than trying to gradually erode White's initiative with the Caro-Kann, or with a symmetrical 1. ... e5 system (such as the Berlin or the Petroff).
It's not something I've ever noticed in my game until playing here gave me the actual percentages, but I am much poorer player playing black than I am playing white, this goes beyond the slight advantage white always gets for having the first move.(52% win rate with white, 41% with black).
What can I do, what do I need to consider to improve my game when playing black? Thanking you all in advance.
