I wouldn’t want to be black here. That king on e8 isn’t safe. Engine says white is winning with +2.6.

Not a checkmate. However, GM Yasser Seirawane once lost a tournament game when he was young that was also not a checkmate . . . Don't believe me? In the first 6 minutes of this video, he talks about it! (Whole video is well worth watching if you're a beginner.)
