Hi, recently I was playing chess and won the game. The player asked for a rematch and I agreed. Then as soon as the second game started, the player sent me abusive messages. I have blocked that account. But, it really wasn’t a nice experience. Many players on this site have been very polite. I know you can block and report accounts. But is there a way to disable the chat if it happens mid game? I’m sure this person was sending messages as they knew it would distract me from playing within the 10 minute time limit game.
I was wondering what the consequences of blocking them midgame would be. I'd hope it disables the chat but continues the game.
Settings -> play -> game chat
Oh its “allow chat”
i never accept chat.
then after I win I send a dm like "you wanted to analyze mid game? let's analyze now"

I have the whole chat disabled. I don't talk to my opponent while playing OTB so why should I chat in the online game?

I know I'm late, but this is a very good take. Talking to your opponent in OTB is considered a distraction and therefore not allowed, so you could say we're simply following the rules.
