I just am struggling to get out of 1200 and reach 1300. Any tips from higher rated player?

Thanks!

Are you still hanging material or making simple tactical mistakes? My recollection is that this was still common the 1200-1300s.

Making simple tactical mistakes

I've broken that barrier myself recently. My tips chess wise are - Do the puzzle/ tactics and target a score of 2000 and above. Do the drills and master all the endgame fundamentals (you won't need to use them all the time, but the drills often help you think more about the power of all your peices working together). Read. I've been a no theory person up until now but reading the lines helps you imagine the board and improves foresight.

Not enough can be said about the non-chess improvements. Exercise (healthy body, healthy mind). Don't play when drunk, tired or when you may be distracted. This will all help improve your rating

I've also started watching chess streamers, see how they play and talk through their thought process. And I also play against titled players in simils which helps. Anyway, I'm sure you can smash that barrier and beyond.

pick a few basic openings and really get to know them well. This will give you security in the opening stages of the game, and you can start to test which lines work best for you (and gain an edge over your opponents when you're playing a familiar variation).
