Hello, I am very new to playing chess, the first time I played a chess game was yesterday, I used the lessons from chess.com to understand how the game works, I am at 500 elo now (I played 6 hours every day im addicted lol) What should be the next thing that I should learn, and what should be the goals for the future. My goal is to get to a level where I can play in some local tournaments and be competetive, winning is not my goal for now. Is that even possible for me to learn to play chess  at that level since i am currently 17.

Welcome to chess.com happy.png

You can certainly learn and improve, despite being 17. Many people begin much older than this and still become very strong chess players. Mikhail Tal is a famous chess player with a 2700+ peak rating and he reached his peak rating at age 44!

Chess is like pretty much anything else in that you can usually improve with time and effort invested into it. In the case of chess, it can be a time-consuming hobby because there are so many things to learn and refine, but this is part of the enjoyment.

Here are two useful chess.com resources to help you get started:

"I am at 500 elo now"
++ A rating of 500 is a sign of frequent blunders.
Always check your intended move is no blunder before you play it.
Think about you rmove, then imagine it played, then check it is no blunder, only then play it. That little mental discipline alone is enough to get to 1500. Hang no pieces, hang no pawns.

"What should be the next thing that I should learn"
++ Analyse your lost games so as to learn from your mistakes.

"Is that even possible for me to learn to play chess  at that level since i am currently 17."
++ 1500 is a matter of blunder checking. After that you can reach 2000 in 1 year.

What is a blunder exactly? I also have an elo of around 500.

"What is a blunder exactly?"
++ In this context: missing checkmate in 1, hanging a queen, rook, bishop, knight or pawn.

Hey I'm also new to chess and I have really important question. What opening to play as black? As white I always win but I have troubles as black. What openings you suggest? I have on mind Scandinavian, Karo kan and dutch defense, but people say they're bad. Help would be appreciated

"I have really important question" ++ Not really important.

"What opening to play as black?" ++ Simplest and best: Defend 1 e4 e5 and 1 d4 d5

"As white I always win" ++ Do not believe that.

"I have troubles as black" ++ Black is harder than white.

"I have on mind Scandinavian, Karo kan" ++ either Caro-Kann or Scandinavian are good.

"dutch defense" ++ Dutch defense is not really sound, but at your level it does not matter.

Play slower game if you want to improve,15+10 is a lot better.

Try to learn something from each game you play and think carefully before each move.

Learn an opening with white that you feel very comfortable with....

Practice against the computer against an engine that you cannot usually beat, until you can beat it more often than not, then go up one.

Eg/ if level 10 usually beats you, play against it until you are winning 3 out of 4 games, then go up to 11. Its like training with weights, work out and gradually push the resistance, you will gain strength.

You're actually doing not that bad.  Chess is hard game to master.

I briefly checked one of your games. My recommendation is that you should look into opening principles.  Move 9. a4, 10. a5 and 11. h4 are really not good, when your Knights and Bishops are still on the back rank and your King is exposed and vulnerable.
