my little brother started chess not even 2 days ago and hes beat me twice and thinks hes better then me. every time he wins to me he refuses to rematch with some stupid excuse because he doesnt want to hurt his ego. all he does is copy my moves. pls give me tips on how to humble this kid and size his ego down. what i mean by that is how do i counter someone who copies your moves all the time.

I would pretend that I am texting on my phone but I am actually playing his moves against the strongest computer on Chess.com. I hope that makes sense

What polishknigh said make sense just run his moves through the bots and see wut that does or just check him over and over again so he cannot copy you

DrSpudnik

Maybe he's just better than you. I suggest studying chess.

How many times have you beaten him?

No, study chess.

About 5-7 times id say, we only started playing eachother recently.

you can't because it's impossible to ever play chess right

If he's one of those copycat chess players, you could try playing this as white:

Qg4 creates an immediate threat on the weak g7 pawn. Of course if black copies you and plays Qg5 you take the queen for free. If black is smart enough to stop you with g6, play Qf3 and create a new threat with Qxf7 checkmate.

Doesn't sound likely he's just copying your moves. Shouldn't you have played the winning move first then? Unless it was a bunch of losing moves ...

It might be time to humble someone else then your little brother.

Progress comes when you first humble yourself.

Then work on your skills.

Question: if black copies the moves of white, is it even possible for black to win? Probably it is, but it requires some cunning sequence, ending with black's only possible move is a checkmate.

You prefer to make assumptions because you lack the curiousity to enquire. Put down whatever you are doing and stop to think for once in your sad life.

Backing down from a boastful fool isn't humility, it's pride that backs down from losing.

The OP isn't proud, it's his arrogant, boastful brother who is proud, wanting to beat someone at chess doesn't make you proud, otherwise nobody would learn.

My life isn't sad. It may make you cry, but that's because it smells like onions.

Saying "I love how the suggestions are to just cheat" means something like "Isn't it sad that the only suggestions are to cheat?" or "Isn't it ironic that the only suggestions so far are to cheat?" That sort of thing. It's just a figure of speech. They're agreeing with you.

You made a poor attempt at wit. Smelling cooked onions doesn't sting your eyes, only raw onion vapour stings the eyes. You are the only one who cares about what comes out of your own mouth, you felt the need to criticise how the OP lives his life, so you obviously hate your own life and are trying to cover it up with bravado.
