How can I setup custom position and play it with a friend?

So what I want to do is place for example 2 Kings and Queen to learn check mate patterns quick with a friend but I don't know how to do it. I found some old articles but the site layout is different and I don't know how to send invite to custom board.

I found this article but I have no Custom Game option.

It only works on daily games.

I know it still works. Somebody posted an insane custom position.

Honestly I think the best option is to use Lichess study feature. You can create a whole bunch of different positions/variations then play them from any point.

Actually, as just posted in another similar thread, there is the Learn > Analysis feature here.

Click Play Online

Click Custom

Click the dropdown that says "Standard" and select "custom position / odds"

Click the dropdown that says "Autobalance" - and select "set up position"

Set up the position and load it.

Select the friend you want to play and away you go.

Welcome.

But to me, it has just happened something I would consider unfair or actually cheating: when a "friend" player challenged me, it showed the board in a standard manner with the usual pieces position, then when I tap on it, it shows the info of the game stating is unrated, but when I accept the challenge the board has a custom setting: his/her bishops and knights are already developed or I do not have two pawns. And on top of that, the game now is rated! Did anyone experience something like that? I have reported this earlier today, but no answer so far. Luckily, I took screenshots to prove this.

The two custom daily games against your friend (their pieces didn't start in the initial position) were unrated. The third daily game which did start in the initial position was rated.

If you haven't made a move, you should be able to abort the game which started in the custom position.

This was very helpful as an opponent's time ran out due to an oversight on their part but they were willing to play out the position as I was, so this helped to save the game despite it being unrated! well done on the clear instructions!
