How can people even reach 1600??

I don't think most people who are 1600+ got there in less than 3 months, 1600 is fairly strong club player level, it's going to need a reasonable level of knowledge across different aspects of the game, and also a lot of learned experience of positions and tactics - or perhaps a rare natural talent for it. Improving is all that really matters, being better than you were a month or year ago. Though I say that as someone who has set a year goal of also getting to 1600 :D but I'm not sure that was a healthy goal as it makes me obsess about rating too much and not want to play if I don't feel confident

Don't focus on your rating. Study the games of great players from the past. Pick a favorite and try to understand that player's method of play.
When someone is worrying so much about getting to a certain rating as fast as possible, I wonder if that person actually enjoys chess. Chess is "the other beautiful game." Slow down and enjoy it.

I'm no 1600 but You seem to be making steady progress, and are on a 7 win streak, keep doing what you're doing!

READ CHESS BOOKS! MCO-15 and a chess board on your coffee table, for starters. Go to the public library and check out whatever they have. I read a book recently by Patrick Wolff called 'Play Chess Like A Boss" (stupid title) but it was a fun read, and actually pretty great. Read books by any of the world champions, but also check out the books by Nimzowitsch especially regarding zugzwang/endgame tactics. Food for thought

I’ve used that to get from 900 to 1500 in 2 months. The better I get at these things the higher reared I’ll be. When I get better I’ll be 1600, which shouldn’t be too long.

Good luck and your will get there I'm sure

I advise going hardcore on the lessons
Yes this, if you aren't. Not being paid up though, you can only do one a week, but better than nothing.

Most people have played for years. 3 months is still beginner level.

Just wanted to note that in the past 5 months, @Jalex13 has played ~400 games of 30|0 (this is a good way to improve, a lot of players only play blitz or bullet).

What to add that hasn't been said...? I'll just reiterate that it's time, studying lessons and experience. 1600 is pretty dang good and hard to get. Set lower reasonable goals. I've been playing tons the past few months and have barely moved in rating...but it has moved. Also, play to enjoy the game too.

You probably have heard this before or something similar to it but I want to reiterate it in case u havent:
Stop focusing on that little number. Most of the time people lost points because they are focusing to much in their rating, and not paying much attention to the game itself. I'd say if you get to attached to your rating, play some unrated games and improve, play against significantly better players so you can learn from them, and then come back to rated when you are better.

Close your current account. Open up a new one and set it to 1600; problem solved!
On the other site, I opened up an account a year ago and they start you at 1500. Over there I am 1600.
Here, I’m 1400 and working towards 1500.
Just know you get paired with people within your skill range and enjoy.

The rating on the 'other' site is probably different from this site. So if it's just the number you're after, then congrats.
