How do I fix this flaw in my game?

Apologies up front for not knowing how to post up the entire match via mobile device.

Trial and error with no teacher/mentor I have found Queen’s Pawn opening to work decently for me.  I try to advance the pawns out but not too far, in order to contain my opponent’s knights.  The big flaw in my plan is that I am left very vulnerable to be checked without remedy by a bishop or a queen at G3 or H4.  I have hit a wall in my thinking on how to solve this glaring weakness.

What to do?

You haven't played any games. You should play games on your account so that you can see progress.

Looking at games played on guest accounts seems like a waste of time.

You didn't even finish the game.

You can avoid the weakness on that diagonal by not playing f3 and g4.

Actually the other player abandoned the game just then for whatever reason.  Thanks much for the feedback, I appreciate the reply.

You played way to many pawn moves. You need to focus on development and king safety. Following the opening principles, and tactics is what you need to focus on in the opening.

Here is a link to them: Opening Principles

I would say minimize pawn moves in the opening. Move 9 and you have no pieces developed. When I play, I try to get my knights and bishops out, castle soon and at the most opportune time, and connect my rooks. Pawns are some of the best defenders of pieces and should be used accordingly. Granted I'm still learning myself, but following basic opening principles has helped me improve a lot. Control the center, develop your pieces safely ( knights and Bishops first, then queen, castle and connect the rooks ), try not to move the same piece twice unless it's forced or fantastic for you, try to avoid bringing your queen out too early.

If you can adhere to the principles I listed you will improve quickly.

Good luck buddy. 👍

And as AlphaTeam mentioned above, the more tactics you learn, the better off you'll be. I do A LOT of puzzles.

Too many darn pawn moves that's your weakness..

Also try out 1.c4 I think it's better than 1.d4 at this point in time

I am trying to get my knights out in front per suggestions, here, but all too often they end up exposed to attack and I am compelled to retreat.  Knights have never worked well for me, I have always tended to keep them back until later in the game.  That’s why I moved the pawns up but everyone is right about the pawns, I am left vulnerable behind them…
