"how to beat your dad at chess"

How would we know?
Do you even have a Dad?
It's a good book. It teaches a lot of checkmate patterns that come up often in games.
It may be somewhat advanced for you.
Do a search for best beginner books in the forum. The question has been asked at least 1000 times.
thx for the advice. actually I dont think this book is too advanced for me(I am 13) because I have a good understanding for my elo and I think that if 8 years old can do this, it's not too advanced for me.

I have this book and think its title is very misleading. It does not teach you how to beat your dad at chess, it's really a very good primer in checkmate patterns, nothing else.

It wouldn’t be my first choice as a tactics book as it assumes a rudimentary understanding of standard tactical motifs but it’s one of my favourites, I have read it about 5 times so far. Nice to have it in hardback too.
As has been said, the title is misleading, like the publishers ‘chess endings for kids’ which is anything but.
thank you so much for the advices I am really appreciating all off that, I know the title is misleading but I think I need to get better at the basics because by the end I am new to chess and that book looked good for me. in the end do you think this book is going to be a good choice?
