How to decide your Next Brilliant Move?

As a beginner I find that I immediately after a few moves on the board I have trouble deciding what move to make next. For instance, this is the current, quite basic opening against the very low ranking easy play bot from Fritz 18:

....and I simply don't know what to do next, let alone when the board becomes more complicated. Even the moves that I made so far are just basic opening moves that I just did because I thought they were sensible. But that's how far it goes in my thought process.

How do you experts and more seasoned players decide your next move? And any tips for study material that covers this dilemma? I have trouble finding it on this website...

You are doing fine! Chess is complicated. The desire to get full chess awareness is ok. But let it go a little bit as it might hurt your improvements.

The basic opening moves you are making are good for now. Don't try to find 'the brilliant move', nor try to study book openings as it is too complicated/complex/much. Better keep focus on a few basics, practice practice.

Do know chess is all about making mistakes. You will win if you make less mistakes and blunders then your opponent. You will get better over time if you practice daily.
