I had no idea how intense this was doing to be

I had no idea what an emotional roller coaster playing an on-line game of chess could be. My stomach can't handle it! I started out with the bots which seemed pretty normal, graduated to 10 minute "real" games but that clock ticking away was too much so I switched to 30 minutes and daily games, but even those get me all jacked up. Maybe I should get a dog or learn a new language.

Have you tried playing unrated games? It might help you make the transition from playing against the computer to playing another person without having to worry about how the game will affect your rating.

I feel that exact tension and pressure, just90enjoy the highs and lows. We all blunder, win games we thought were lost,

MrPink_DV

I only play 3 or 4 games a day, anything more than that is too draining mentally and emotionally haha. The exhale after a win is amazing... mix in some unrated games too

rated or unrated, tension against people is high. When you play bots, games are nice, predictable and you are squeezed slowly.

When you play people, everything becomes uncertain,  pieces are flying everywhere board turns upside down.

just stop worrying about losses

The losses aren't what gets me going. It's the excitement of closing in for the kill combined with the worry that I'll blow it.

Do some yoga and deep breathing in between moves. Meditate before and after games. Calm your mind and relax.

This is how I look at this:

Play your best and have fun.  If you loose, I hope you gave your opponent a tough game.  If you lost badly, then go over the game to LEARN from your mistakes.   I hope that this helps.

Well, I somehow envy you.
