That is exactly one of the reasons why people recommend that improving players stop playing speed chess, although 10 minute games are probably too fast for an improving player as well.

By playing bullet and blitz, you will probably play too fast in slower games as well. It is just the way it is. Time management is not easy to master, I almost always play longer games and still can play too fast from time to time.

If you intend to play speed chess, but want to play longer games as well, the only advice I can give is to pause before every slower game and tell to yourself that you will take your time while playing such games. It might help you, but the best solution is to play longer games mainly and mostly leave bullet and blitz behind.

Stop playing bullet/blitz. It gets your brain used to not thinking. Once you get used to rapid or so you might enjoy the game more since you think more and value your moves more.

If you don't have anything to think about you need to study your games more and maybe do some lessons so you actually have things to think about and ideas to consider.

Ok. Not sure if I have time for long games tho sad.png

Well, let's see. You've played 4 10 minute per side games yesterday. And 3 days ago you've played 9 games... It is better to play one 30 minute per side game than 4 short ones. And it is better to play 1 hour per side game than those 9 you've played 3 days ago. happy.png And it takes less time as well. Try to analyze your game after you finish it, if you have the time. That way you get the most out of your games. If you don't have the time to play every day, play every 2 days.

You're welcome. I hope you'll be satisfied with long term results.

I mean just play rapid 10|0 or so. They average 10 mins each game and you will learn more.

nklristic

That is too fast most likely. He is already playing that way and improving players will blunder a lot that way.

nTzT

Yea, a bit longer wouldn't be a bad idea. But if he is strapped for time 10|0 can be great. .

King's Gambit is a bit wild for my taste but it looks interesting.

Maybe Nf3 instead of d4 that early since you don't want to allow the pin, it makes the e4 pawn a bit weak.

You had a tactic here as well:

But you had a beautiful finish and you saw it a couple moves ahead it seems, goodjob happy.png
