Hi, sure we could message if you like too, but opening principles is a good starting point for many people learning: https://www.chess.com/blog/KeSetoKaiba/opening-principles-again

I believe learning basic checkmates and checkmate patterns are even more useful when starting out, but I post the blog post I wrote on opening principles because many make the mistake of trying to memorize a lot of opening theory when starting out. Following opening principles is a good habit to do and it also doesn't require memorizing any specific variations.

If you want something on checkmates, I recently made a video on lots of these checkmate patterns. I also have several older videos on my channel which teach other basic theoretical endgames such as how to checkmate with:

K + Q vs K

K + R vs K

or even K + pawn vs K when it is winning or not by King Opposition happy.png

Anyway, here is the checkmate patterns video though.

Says someone with an anime profile picture to someone else with an anime profile picture being commented by someone else (me) with an anime profile picture grin.png

Also, I prefer the term "otaku" instead of "weeb." An otaku describes me slightly better wink.png

You forgot the most basic checkmate Chess.com teaches you: K+R+R / K+R+Q / K+Q+Q

lol I know, right?

I don't like teaching these because they are so unnecessary. I get they are trying to start easier, but I'd rather just teach someone how to checkmate with a lone Rook and then they know they can do it. To me, this is better than trying to teach how to checkmate with 2 Rooks or with a Rook and Queen and other overpowered forces etc.
