You have to play more and stick to one strategy you're good at.

At a rating of 400, you don't need any "trick" openings or gambits. You need to stick to the basic principles of control the center, knights before bishops, castle early, and don't hang pieces. Openings come a lot later.

Opening study is terribly over-rated.

You would get more benefit (and more rating) out of almost any other form of study.

Endgames, for example. Nobody at your rating level can play endgames properly.

And I do NOT mean "How to checkmate with King and Rook" or something silly like that. Chimpanzees can do that. I mean "How to win a King-and-Pawn endgame (or a Rook-and-Pawn endgame) if you have an extra Pawn". Or how to draw an endgame when you are a Pawn down.

A knowledge of endgame play will bring you HUNDREDS of wins, at your level.

AND it will improve your overall level of play.

You do not need a new opening. You should work on basic chess principles. Once you have those down so that they are automatic, you can play ANY opening.

if you think that becoming a better player means that you can trick opponents with a new opening, you will stay at your current level.

Try Dutch defense (when you get black pieces, play f5 as a response to d4)

Attempting to win by tricks is misguided. It makes sure that you will always lose to any player who avoids your tricks.

You should try to win by playing good moves instead.

Still... here's one endgame trick:

Here is some actual endgame advice, instead of tricks.

Learning new openings is only beneficial if you want to make the game less boring. Sometimes it can confuse your opponents as well, but that's about it.

insane

Openings don’t matter at low elo, but i always play dum ones like the Polish and Blackmar gambit etc because they are fun.

Hi!

You could try some from the following list:

White

Goring Gambit
Danish Gambit
Belgrade Gambit
Morra Gambit
Wing Gambit - French Defense

Black
Albin countergambit

Those are quite good gambits and give you reasonable attacking chances. For details on my own experience with gambits, you could check out my post:

Good luck!
