Is chess.com membership worth it for beginner?

I just started to play from scratch and have the 7 days free trial for the Diamond membership.

I like to use the beginner lessons (fork, pin concepts etc), Puzzles and the Game review which explains me all the blunders I make, as well as suggestions on what I should improve on. It is convenient to have this AI coach as I am a father and have limited time to play, rather second part of the evening once my kid is sleeping. Sometimes, for my Game Review, I don't agree on the suggestion of Best Move from the AI but maybe I am not experienced enough. https://www-krogercomfeedback.com/

Do you recommend paying for chess.com membership as a beginner?

Thanks for your response I agree, joining a chess club can be a great idea! Do you have any recommendations for good chess clubs, either online or in-person?

The other good thing about joining is that you get to use the full range of bots, not just the free ones. You don't need the absolute top membership for this, the second-row (I think it's platinum instead of diamond) still includes bots and unlimited reviews, and in my view is very good value.

"Sometimes, for my Game Review, I don't agree on the suggestion of Best Move"
++ Look deeper, you probably will agree then.

"Do you recommend paying for chess.com membership as a beginner?"
++ It may help, but is not essential. Key is to play and analyse your lost games to learn from your mistakes. Very important is to blunder check before you move.

The lessons progress in a logical order, making it easier to follow and build upon what you’ve learned.

I put together a full write-up here: Is a Chess.com Premium Membership Worth It? [2025]

I had 1 month Platinum as Beginner because Ive reported a bug. I would claim its worth it: Unlimited Puzzles, Game Reviews and Lessons are nice to grind when the motivation is high and you are eager to learn.

After the first month, I think for me its better to save the money and play Lichess Puzzles and do one Lesson a day in the Free Chess.com Account, to keep a continuity.

I assume in 3-6 months it could worth again getting Gold Membership and enjoy Game Analysis - but with scepticism as the analysis aint too deep (if I remember properly you can set different levels of depthness, but am not sure if that was true, nor if it fixes my issue with the analysis claiming bad moves when actually they were the best moves considering 2-3 moves in advance and not falling for a trap of the opponent)

If you are going to play for next year - it’s worth it. There is certain risk that you quit chess and then it will be waste of money.
